Tsitouras Collection, Firostefani on Santorini Review
Architectural Digest-worthy decor and earthy Cycladic charm blend here at this complex of six apartments, and the result is true Santorinian splendor. Little wonder these apartments have been homes-away-from-homes for the likes of Nana Mouskouri and Jean-Paul Gaultier. There's no sign; guests are met (at the airport or harbor) and brought to these sparkling white cubes with volcanic stone trimmings built around an 18th-century mansion. Inside, the decor is a fantasia of Chippendale armchairs, ancient amphorae, Byzantine icons, Corfiot mariner's chests, Picasso ceramics, and gilt-framed engravings; the glowing color schemes were cooked up by legendary British designer David Hicks. Salons are picturesquely dotted with domes, skylights, and interior windows—the showpiece is the "House of the Winds," where the Oscar winner is the grand, double-height, cathedral-roofed living room ashimmer with elegant antiques and robin's-egg-blue walls. The elegant terrace overlooks the caldera, but many choose to enjoy dinner on their own terrace. Breakfast, included, lasts all day.

Enchanted Cycladic Retreat
The Greek Island of Santorini famously beguiles visitors with its sugar-cube houses cascading down red cliffs above a cobalt-blue sea, and the Tsitouras Collection utterly embodies these splendid surroundings. Five suites in an 18th-century mansion and a second, three-bedroom villa are perched 1,000 feet above the shimmering Aegean Sea. White-washed walls, arches, barrel ceilings, domes, volcanic-stone trimmings, and sun-drenched terraces capture the stunning simplicity of the island's architecture, and the refined resort is embellished with creator Dimitris Tsitouras' penchant for ancient statuary, Chippendale antiques, and paintings by Picasso and other masters. Just as Santorini is said to be the fabled island of Atlantis, the Tsitouras Collection is a legend in its own right.
