Astir of Paros Review

Across the bay from Naousa twinkle the lights of this deluxe resort hotel, a graceful and expensive retreat (expensive for Paros, not for Mykonos), with green lawns, tall palm trees, extensive subtropical gardens, and an art gallery—and, yes, this luxury hotel fully deserves its superlative reputation. Guest rooms are elegant and spacious, a vibrant mix of antiques and boldly colored modern paintings, which lose a little compared to the window views of sparkling Naousa bay. The hotel's bars (one set by the sea) are popular and its two restaurants are ambitious. As you stroll through the vast gardens—note the historic Chapel of St. Nicholas (and its Byzantine-era murals) church carefully rebuilt on 12th-century foundations—the bustle of Paros is very far away indeed. Since flights to Paros are hard to get, many guests arrive by helicopter.
