Main Square Review

Katharina Bolesch and Alexander Reichart, husband and wife, have lived in Naxos for decades. They moved to Chalki's old main square in 2006 and started the beautiful town's revival with the restoration of one fine old building. Thanks to them, the square nowadays has a weaving shop, a shop selling olive wood items, a local foods shop, a café, and a tavern, all of high quality. The shop goods have been displayed internationally. As for Ms. Bolesch and Mr. Reichart, their Fish and Olive boutique sells Katharina's masterful ceramics and Alexander's sensitive jewlery—all with fish or olive motifs. The back room is an art gallery. The couple also run the Axia music festival in August, which gets grander yearly.
