The Cyclades Sights

Markos Velalopoulos's Ouzeri

Updated 09/08/2014

Fodor's Review

Just 1½ km (¾ mi) from Chora you'll see a copse of pines shading a small parking lot, from which a path leads down to Stavros (Holy Cross) chapel; right on the water is the unmarked Markos Velalopoulos's Ouzeri, which serves strophia (raki), ouzo, and traditional snacks such as fried cheese or figs with sesame. This is Tinos's most romantic spot to watch the sunset. It is also good for swimming. Note that the sunken breakwater along the coastal road in front of

the ouzeri (casual bar) is ancient.
