Fodor's Review

Sumptuously appointed, this immaculate white cliff-side complex layered on terraces offers ultimate luxury and sleek modern design, including Andy Warhol wall prints, stunning fabrics, and handsome furniture—chic as the surroundings are, the barrel-vaulted ceilings and other architectural details also lend a traditional air to the place. Suites and villas are small and private; all have private terraces that overlook the caldera and are luxuriously appointed. The restaurant

terrace sports a great caldera view, providing a terribly romantic experience. Children under 13 are not accepted for safety reasons (due to the cliff-side construction of the hotel).

Paradise

My husband and I spent a week here and couldn't have had a more perfect time. The staff were attentive and professional, the accomodations were lovely, and the atmosphere was heavenly. Katikies is the perfect place to vacation and we found ourselves, on a few occasions, whiling away our days without ever leaving the hotel.

It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This!

Our stay at the Katikies Hotel in Santorini was fabulous. The staff is so attentive without being overbearing. Our suite was so spacious and the view from our terrace breathtaking. This is a magical place and though it is difficult to get a reservation, it is so worth it. We hated to leave the hotel to see the rest of the island of Santorini. The location in Ia or Oia is the best. Very easy to make the walk into town. This is Greek hospitality

at it's best.

Not Worth It

I visited this resort in July and was terribly disappointed. Very small rooms called "suites" are just ordinary hotel rooms. While the resort has more than 20 rooms, the pool has seating for about 6. There is another sundeck which seats about 12. We paid over $500 a night, and expected at the very least, a chair at the pool. The view is terrific.

Heaven

I must admit, from a selfish perspective, I'm sorry to see this hotel finally listed in Fodors. Now it will be even harder to get a reservation, which will inevitably drive the prices even higher. I have stayed here twice (and am going again this summer), and the prices have literally doubled from 2000 to 2004. Still, it is the perfect place to stay on Santorini, and would be worth most any price. The setting, the service, the general asmosphere

are all absolutely stunning. The little touches- such as classical and dreamy new-agey music piped in around the pool deck and the iced towels and watermelon slices brought to sunbathers by the pool each afternoon- make this a true luxury hotel. The small size keeps it intimate, although it can seem a bit crowded when the hotel is fully booked (which it usually is in high season). Still, for true pampering in a fabulous setting, you can't beat this dramatic, romantic hotel. It is quiet, full of couples, and perfect for relaxing and unwinding- much like Santorini itself. This is probably my favorite place in the world (with Le Sirenuse in Positano a close second).
