Ikies Traditional Houses

Off eastern end of caldera path, Ia, Santorini, 84702, Greece

A perch at the far eastern end of Ia provides wonderful views of the village as well as the caldera, which can be enjoyed from the private terraces of 11 handsomely furnished cave houses that were once used as workshops to repair and store fishing nets. The terraced property is these days devoted to luxury, beginning with a lavish breakfast served on your terrace (the only meal, aside from snacks, on offer) and descends to a small pool, while some units have their own hot tubs. The center of Ia is about a ten-minute walk away, setting this little enclave away from the crowds.

PROS

  • nice sense of privacy in a small, off-the-beaten-track enclave
  • very attractive
  • low-key, attentive service

CONS

  • terraces are not entirely private
  • the inevitable steps
