There are more than eight flights per day to Rhodes from Athens on Olympic Airlines or Aegean Airlines. Extra flights are added during high season.
The 45-minute flight costs about €115 one-way. Olympic and Sky Express fly to Rhodes from Heraklion (1 hour, €100) at least three times per day and Olympic flies several times a week from Thessaloniki (1¼ hours, €117).
It is possible to fly directly to Rhodes from a number of European capitals, especially on charters.
To Kos, Olympic Airlines runs three daily flights from Athens, and three flights a week from Rhodes. Schedules are reduced in winter.
Neither Patmos nor Symi have airports.
Aegean Airlines (Rhodes Airport, Rhodes town, 85100. 22410/88700; 80111/20000 toll-free within Greece; 210/626-2000 Athens booking line. www.aegeanair.gr.)
Sky Express (2810/223500. www.skyexpress.gr.)
Rhodes Airport is about 20 minutes from Rhodes town, and it's best to take a taxi (about €15) or a public bus (€3).
Though private vehicles must have permits to enter the Old Town, a taxi may enter if carrying luggage, no matter what a reluctant driver tells you.
Kos airport is located 26 km (16 mi) southwest of Kos town.
There is bus and taxi service from there to Kos town; expect to pay about €25 for the taxi fare, €3 for the bus.
