Fodor's Review

One of the lower key and more appealing beach towns on overbuilt Kos, on the north coast 13 km (8 miles) west of Kos town, faces a pretty, sandy beach that stretches for miles. Though some resort hotels and other attractions line the sands, much of the inland terrain just behind the beach dunes remains rural, with fields and salts marshes spreading out across the plain around a large lake that attracts huge flocks of egrets. Beachgoers can enjoy the amenities of some of the more built-up sections then hike through grasslands to the lakeshore. The more isolated, western edge of the beach is popular with gay men. Amenities: food and drink; showers; toilets; water sports. Best for: solitude; nudists; swimming; walking.
