  • 1. George Triantafyllou

Old Town | Antiques & Collectibles

George is a professional iconographer, and one of a half-dozen employed to professionally paint and restore frescoes in the island's churches. His workshop doubles as a small shop, where he sells his remarkable art, handpainted onto wood with pigment and gold, and runs workshops teaching the skills of the Byzantine fresco painters to visitors. Even if you just stop by (it's best to call ahead if visiting), he's an engaging companion and always thrilled to discuss his work. He also paints commissions.

  • 2. Astero Antiques

    Antiques & Collectibles

Since 1970 the owner has traveled throughout Greece each winter to fill his shop with some of the most enticing goods on offer on the island, though how "antique" these items are is up for debate.

  • 3. Workshop Karpetis

    Old Town

Lefteris Karpetis spent his early life rattling around his father's goldsmiths, whose old implements and tools scatter his current-day workshop alongside black-and-white stills of his craft. One of few old-school jewelers left in the city, his designs are unique and typically range from €15 to €5,000.
