The Peloponnese Sights

National Bank

Fodor's Review

This contemporary structure displays an amusing union of Mycenaean and modern Greek architectural elements fashioned with concrete. Take a look at the sculptures of a winged lion of St. Mark (which graced the main gate in the city's landward wall, long since demolished) and of Kalliope Papalexopoulou (a leader of the revolt against King Otho), whose house once stood in the vicinity. They're in the square next to the bank.
