This contains, inevitably, a monument to Admiral Konstantinos Kanaris, a revolutionary hero; across from its far end is the bust of Laskarina Bouboulina. Twice widowed by wealthy shipowners, she built her own frigate, the Agamemnon. Commanding it herself, along with three small ships captained by her sons, Bouboulina blockaded the beleaguered Turks by sea, cutting off their supplies. Bouboulina's pedestal sits on the corner.
