Peloponnese Hotels

Nafplia Palace

  • Beautiful setting and views
  • Suites are the last word in luxury
  • Superb buffet breakfast

  • Unwelcoming public spaces
  • Older rooms are much in need of renovation
  • Rates and the restaurants are both very expensive

Fodor's Review

An elevator whisks you from the Old Town up to the extensive grounds, spacious rooms, and luxurious suites perched high above Nafplion on the ruins of the Frankish fortification atop Acronafplia—at first glance, the public spaces tend to be cavernous and austere, but the delightful pine-scented terraces and swimming pools seem to hang in midair, high above the city and bay. Rooms in the hotel wing are undergoing some much-needed renovations that include handsome contemporary

furnishings and all sorts of electronic gadgetry to open drapes, dim lighting, and control high-tech showers (insist on a room that's been refurbished, and stay elsewhere if you are unable to obtain one). Suites in the "villas" wing are equipped with sumptuous bathrooms, sliding glass walls, and chic modern furnishings; some have private pools and huge terraces.
