Epirus and Thessaly Sights

Pavlos Vrellis Museum of Greek History

Updated 05/26/2011

Fodor's Review

Want to see a tableau of Ali Pasha's legendary murder? Head to this museum to be shocked and amused, by turn, with its collection of historical Epirote waxwork figures from the past 2,500 years, all leading players in more than 30 historical "settings," including streets, mountains, caves, churches, and more. All the figures were sculpted in wax by artist Pavlos Vrellis, a local legend who embarked on this endeavor at the ripe age of 60. His studio is on the premises.
