While this is a bit of a long drive from the Paleokastritsa region, some foodies would drive here from Athens itself: this is considered one of the best restaurants in Greece. If not, it is certainly one of the most inventive. Run by the Italian-Corfiot Botrini family, this is a showcase for their passion for both Greek and Italian cuisine, combined with flawless technique and a big blast of "molecular" creativity. You know dinner will be a marvel when you are presented with a starter of canapés, each positioned over their place of origin on a cute map of the Mediterranean. Then the marvels of chef Ettore Botrini begin and you may want to make a dinner just of the appetizers: sea urchin soup, salmon cubes with green apple sorbet, octopus Carpaccio, feta cheese "snow," or shrimp risotto with Peruvian bitter cocoa powder. One winning main course was the slow-cooked pork belly with Granny Smith apple puree. Prepared by Ettore's wife, the desserts are ecstasy: will it be the chocolate soufflé with salty caramel sauce, the goat cheese ice cream with tomato marmalade and lemon sherbet, or the orange soufflé with chocolate crust? Or the Corfu Memories, which combines chocolate and strawberry flavors in a novel way. Rounding out the experience is the cozy and modern decor, with the best tables—often booked solid with chic and wealthy Corfiots—set out in a large and charmingly antique courtyard.
