When all you really want is a burger, head to George's, a classic destination since the late 1980s in the heart of Glyfada's "Burger Town" district. As this spot (affectionately called Biftekakia or "burger joint" by the locals) started out as the local butcher shop in 1951. It is little wonder that the menu is limited to grilled meats, like steaks (George learned how to carve a T-bone from a visiting American) and biftekia (thick, grilled, hamburger-like patties of ground beef and pork served without a bun), plus a limited selection of side dishes like fries, tzatziki, seasonal boiled greens, and Greek salad. The service is fast, so don't be disappointed if all the tables are taken when you arrive; there's a continuous stream of diners coming and going. You get great value for your money, whether you choose a tender beefsteak or a succulent hamburger, but this is an old-fashioned, no-frills taverna after all, and it operates on a strictly cash-only basis.
