Herodion Hotel Review

A good compromise between the area's budget venues and deluxe digs, this hospitable hotel is down the street from the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, where Athens Festival performances are held, and a few minutes from the Acropolis—service is friendlier and more efficient here than at most other Plaka neighborhood hotels, while the marble in the renovated lobby lends a touch of grandeur. Guest rooms are done in light-wood furnishings and muted olive-color, pale pink, or crème walls. The complimentary buffet breakfast is served in the restaurant. The adjacent light-filled atrium is home to a bar and coffee shop where fine antiques, Greek works of art, and cozy pillowy chairs offer an intimate vibe. On the roof, there is a terrace with deck chairs, two jacuzzis (5 euro charge for 15 minutes) and a wonderful Parthenon panorama. Be sure to take full advantage of the hotel's location and ask for a room with an Acropolis view.

The Herodion was a fabulous hotel, right in the heart of Athens - close to the metro stop (with easy access from the airport), close to the Plaka and the Acropolis. It's modern styling with wifi access and four computers made it perfect for this facebook addicted traveler! The breakfast (included) was delicious, the bar was gracious, and the rooftop deck had amazing views to the Acropolis. What more could you want? I would definitely stay here again.
