Avissinia Cafe Review
Facing hoary and merchant-packed Abyssinia Square, this timeworn but exceptional eatery—the Greek version of a French bistro—is popular with locals who want home-cooked traditional food and endless servings of the excellent barrel wine and local ouzo. Diners love to nestle within the elegant glass-and-wood interior as they sample the mussels and rice pilaf, the wine-marinated octopus with pasta, the fresh garden salad, or any of the dips (including the spicy eggplant-and-garlic spread). Little wonder so many head here to relax after a day of shopping at the nearby flea market. Another plus: music is often in the air—on weekend afternoons, you can enjoy accordion music (and the waiters' impromptu piano accompaniment!).
