Strofi

Strofi Review

Walls lined with autographed photos of actors from the nearby Odeon of Herodes Atticus attest to Strofi's success with the after-theater crowd that flocks to the Hellenic Festival. Despite the many tourists, the recently renovated rooftop garden with dramatic views of the lighted Acropolis still attract locals who have been coming here for decades. In fact, the amazing views come close to stealing the show, although the cuisine comes a very close second. Start with some mezedes, like a tangy taramosalata (fish roe dip) or velvety tzatziki, which perfectly complements the thinly sliced fried zucchini. Another good appetizer is fava, a puree of yellow split peas. For the main course, choose roast lamb with hilopites (thin egg noodles cut into small squares) and oregano, grilled chicken fillet, beef stew in a pot with cheese and potatoes, or the kid goat prepared with gruyere cheese and tomato.
