Book NowSt. George Lycabettus Review
This small upscale hotel on the forested slopes of Mt. Lycabettus, in happening Kolonaki, is steps from Athens's museum row and designer shops—while most rooms have good views of the Acropolis (although some have blah ones so make sure you ask for an outside room), a lot of the action here actually takes place inside, as each floor floor has its own theme, and rooms are designed accordingly, with looks ranging from jewel-tone art nouveau to sleek black-and-white minimalism to soothing neutrals with bamboo. The rooftop pool bar, with its small pool and Le Grand Balcon restaurant have an unbeatable panoramic view. Downstairs the postmodern 1970s-style lounge, Frame, is a popular Athenian nightspot and also serves a decadent weekend brunch.

The way this hotel is described, it's like this is the most wonderful hotel ever. It's ok. The breakfast and the view from the restaurant it's in are great (bring your camera to breakfast.) But the rooms are so-so - very typical European hotel rooms. The staff is a bit snarly but it is Greece, after all. From the reviews I thought I'd get a little more. Beware if you're adverse to exercise - the climb to the hotel from just about anywhere is a bit of a workout.
