Giantes Review

In a flower-filled courtyard—fashionably green and framed by wisteria and jasmine—you peruse Gigantes' menu, which, although it has a modern streak, reads like an ambitious culinary journey through the far reaches of Greece. Although a little pricier than the norm, this neo-taverna, which opened in 2000, now attracts intellectuals, students, lawyers, actors, and health buffs, partly because it is co-owned by two of Greece's foremost organic farmers. Almost everything is fresh and delicious, as the chef estimates that about 90% of the ingredients he uses are organic, including the house wine. Perennial favorites on the menu include the organic pork with orange sauce, the liver with caramelized onions, and the chicken with honey, raisins, and coriander.
