Daphne's Review

Discreet service and refined Mediterranean and Greek dishes (such as pork with celery and egg lemon sauce, fricassee of melt-off-the-bone lamb with greens, beef with olives, rabbit in mavrodaphne wine sauce and the traditional moussaka) help make Daphne's one of the most exclusive (and at times pricey) destinations in Plaka. The Pompeian frescoes on the walls, the fragments of an ancient Greek building in the garden, and the tasteful restoration of the Neoclassic building in terracotta and ochre hues also contribute to a pleasant and romantic evening.

    Charming restaurant, excellent food

    We had a really nice dinner on a sultry August evening at Daphne's. You can sit in the downstairs 'garden' as we did or in the alleyway during the summer. The garden has a canopy and fans, and it was rather breezeless but still the decor is charming, and probably not a problem when the temperature is cooler.

    The food was excellent, authentic, the fish was very fresh. The portions are rather large, so split an appetizer. My husband ordered octopus and I ordered grilled calamari for appetizers, and really, that could have been a meal. My husband has the veal in tomato, olive oil, and oregano - delicious. I had moussaka - simply melted in my mouth.
