The owners here prove that with a little effort, it's perfectly possible to create a reasonably priced hotel that's still rich in beauty and character. The inside of this gracefully restored neoclassical town house is painted in soft roses and ochers, with lavish molded architectural details in other pastels. The small but comfortable rooms have polished wood floors, high windows, chairs upholstered in folk prints, and, most importantly, soundproofing to buffer the noise of the busy commercial street below. The owner's friendly cat patrols the public spaces. Fuel up at the buffet breakfast, served in an airy dining room overlooking the historic though slightly gritty neighborhood between Monastiraki and the Central Market.
