Philippos Hotel Review

Just around the corner from its sister hotel, the Herodion, the Philippos shares its good qualities: a quiet location convenient to the Acropolis and friendly, efficient service. Modular dark-veneer beds (in smallish rooms) with beige covers are offset by pale green carpets and draperies. You can sip a coffee in the light-filled atrium with comfortable couches and patio tables. Some rooms even have an Acropolis view. Rooms for smokers are available. Prices are kept down by details like the complimentary Continental (rather than full) buffet breakfast, but the overall experience is nicely positive.

    Great Acropolis Hotel

The Acropolis area is amazing. You can see the Acropolis right from the hotel. The neighboorhood is amazing, clean, safe and wonderful. The are a large variety of shops and restaurants within 6 blocks or so. There is a tobacco shop to buy stamps, etc 1 block up the street. If you begin walking to the Acropolis it is a 5 minute walk. Right there you will find the Metro stop Acropoli. The metro system in Athens is very easy to use, safe, affordable and convenient. The area was perfect. We were coming and going at all hours and I never once was uncomfortable. The Acropolis Mueseum is at the top of the street. It also happens to be the same stop for the hop on hop off tour bus. The name of the company is City Sightseeing. You buy the ticket right on the red double decker bus. They usually have a 2 day price and will give you around 10% with your ticket in another city. We absolutely loved this hotel. We had arrived into Athens off a 7 day cruise. This hotel was really great to us. The boat arrived at 8AM and our room would not be ready until 2PM. They let us leave our luggage in the lobby area near the desk so we could enjoy the day in Athens. Note: You must put the key in the light switch in order to get any power. There are several locations in Europe like this but it was first for me and took about 15 minutes for me to figure it out. We had a huge outdoor terrace looking out right at the Acropolis. We loved it at night! We went to the breakfast in the morning...What a spread! Eggs, cereals, pastries, fruits a large and filling assortment. The Acropolis Mueseum is at the top of the street. It also happens to be the same stop for the hop on hop off tour bus. The hotel staff was great to us. The prices are great. I will certainly stay here again the next time I am in Athens.
