Eisleben

Eisleben Review

To reach Quedlinburg in the Harz, you can take E-49 directly, or take a somewhat longer route via E-80, stopping in Eisleben first. Martin Luther came into and out of the world here: both the square Franconian house with the high-pitched roof that was his birthplace (Luthers Geburtshaus) and the Gothic patrician house where he died (Luthers Sterbehaus) are open to the public, as are, on request, the St. Petri-Pauli Kirche (Church of Sts. Peter and Paul), where he was baptized, and the St. Andreaskirche (St. Andrew's Church), where his funeral was held. From Eisleben take B-180 north to join with E-49 to Quedlinburg.
