Jewish Center Munich

Fodor's Review:

The striking new Jewish Center Munich has transformed the formerly sleepy Jakobsplatz into an elegant modern square. The Center includes a museum focusing on Jewish history in Munich, a formidable new synagogue with rough marble slabs, and a community center with kosher restaurant (089/202-400333) that is open Sunday to Thursday from 11:30 to 11. Free, guided tours of the synagogue are in great demand, so to see it, arrange a time weeks in advance.

  • Cost: Museum EUR 6
  • Open: Museum Tues.-Sun. 10-6; synagogue by prior arrangement
  • Metro: Marienplatz (U-bahn and S-bahn)
