Why We Like It

While the Mirabell lacks some of the old-world charm of some of Munich's hotels, it makes up for that in comfort and modernity, from air-conditioning (not a given at all even in far more expensive properties) to coffee makers. Breakfast is decent and included in the properly decent room rates, given the practical location.

Fodor's Expert Review

This bright, modern 3-star hotel is used to American tourists who appreciate the friendly service, central location (between the main railway station and the Oktoberfest fairgrounds), and bargain room rates. The neighborhood itself isn't brilliant--it's a bit rundown, but it's safe and bustling enough.

You Should Know The busy road outside the hotel can make it a little noisy for some guests--rooms that do not face the street are quieter.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

The hotel's location is practical rather than picturesque, close to transport and the Oktoberfest grounds if that is why you're in town. But it's not far from the Old Town - only just over 15 minutes on foot.

Restaurants

There's decent Italian food on offer at Ristorante CA`D`ORO (5-minute walk). Or go traditional at the Bavarian inn-style restaurant, Münchner Stubn (5-minute walk).

Bars

Bar Gabanyi (5-minute walk) is a great local cocktail bar. Or the extremely cool karotte (2-minute walk)--yes, it means carrot--open on Thursday evenings only, is worth a try if you're in town on the right night.
