Alte St. Nikolaikirche (Old St. Nicholas's Church)

Alte St. Nikolaikirche (Old St. Nicholas's Church) Review

The tower and outside walls of this 19th-century neo-Gothic church are all that survived World War II. Today these ruins serve as a monument to those killed and persecuted during the war. Next to the tower, which offers a magnificent view of the surrounding historic streets, is a center documenting the history of the church. It's run by a citizens' organization that is also spearheading private efforts to partially rebuild the church and redesign the surrounding area. A wine cellar is open for browsing and tasting.
