Frankfurt Restaurants

Zum Wagner

Zum Wagner Review

The kitchen produces the same hearty German dishes as other apple-cider taverns, only better. Try the schnitzel or the Tafelspitz mit Frankfurter Grüner Sosse (stewed beef with a sauce of green herbs), or come on Friday for fresh fish. Cider is served in large quantity in the noisy, crowded dining room. This Sachsenhausen classic, with sepia-tone murals of merrymaking, succeeds in being touristy and traditional all at once. Warning: it serves no beer!

My experience at Wagners was the worst I have ever had in a restaurant. Very, very rude service. As a long time resident of Frankfurt, I used to recommend this place, but no more. Frankfurt has so many good, friendly German style restaurants, there is no reason to waste your money in Wagners.

I eat here every time I'm in Frankfurt. The crowd is always lively and the food is consistantly good. Look for the daily specials. It doesn't matter is you don't care for the apple-wine, they bring it to you anyway. And after a few glasses, who cares?
