Fodor's Review

The neo-Gothic Frankfurter Hof is the first choice of visiting heads of state and business moguls, who keep coming back because of its service and luxurious rooms. It fronts on a grand courtyard, and there's little that guests desire that isn't available: massive suites in dark woods and brass with air-conditioning (rare in Germany); marble baths with whirlpool tubs; slippers; mirrored walk-in closets; 24-hour room service; and a day spa and gym. It's one of the city's oldest hotels, but its modern services, includingt earn it kudos, including for its day spa and gym.

Clean but not cozy !

Very clean, the staff was great, but I would not stay here again. The shower was so small and the "rain-shower" made me feel like I was drowning in such a small enclosure. The food at the German restaurant that is separate from the hotel was very good - buffet style.

Quality

My wife and i have stayed four times at the Steigenberger, most recently in Jan. Booked through AMEX platinum concierge, upgraded from a junior suite to one bedroom suite. The room was spotless, super comfy bed with duvets, flat screen tv's in both the living room and bedroom, AND the bathroom for watching in the tub, great shower also. The bar is comfortable despite it being a bit stuffy. We used the spa on our last visit, excellent steam and sauna,

spotless. The Concierge is very helpful and has been on duty every visit since '01, very pleasant fellow. I find the value extremely high considering prices around Europe and for one reason or another we find it very easy to come back to, if only to stay one night at a time.

Check out great weekend rates!

Wow! I was thrilled to discover that the weekend rate was 139 Euros in March of 2005. Not a deal, per se, but what a great experience. The three-course prix fix in the "Oskar" restaurant was one of the best meals of my life. Can't beat location in city center-- just a couple blocks from the best walking streets, museums, and shops.

Worn As The Tapestries on the Wall

This hotel needs an update. Common areas of were not air conditioned and I dripped with sweat as I walked (a very long walk) to my room. The room was plain and carpet begs replacement. Service was slow and staff attitude was good to terrible. I have stayed at this hotel three times and will try another option the next time I am in Frankfurt.

Historic Elegance in Frankfort

Hotel is old and lovely. Very authentic. Service was good, by German standards. Would stay on my next visit to Frankfort.
