Named for the huge Rad (wagon wheel) that decorates it, this Apfelwein tavern is in the small, villagelike district of Seckbach, off the northeastern edge of the city. Outside tables are shaded by chestnut trees in an extensive courtyard. The typically Hessian cuisine, with giant portions, includes such dishes as Ochsenbrust (brisket of beef) with Frankfurt green sauce as well as Handkäs mit Musik (a piece of bread spread with soft cheese, onions, vinegar, and oil). Take the U-4 subway to Seckbacher Landstrasse, then Bus 43 to Draisbornstrasse.
