Fodor's Expert Review Stadt Land Fluss

$$$ Prenzlauer Berg German

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

This proud local restaurant, whose name means "City Country River," has created an unconventional menu that reads like a culinary introduction to Germany. Choose several small bites from the Imis section ("tapas" in Bavarian dialect), such as Saumagen (cured pig's stomach), Schwarzwalder Schinken (Black Forest ham), or Rehmaultasche (venison dumplings) before moving on to the complete menu, which is split into sections for the three places in the restaurant's name. Try river perch, braised beef ribs, or potato noodles with mushrooms and cheese from Blomeyer's, one of the city's best cheese distributors. Of course, an expert list of German wines is also on hand.
