Fodor's Review

This is one of the only privately owned first-class hotels in the heart of western downtown, and although it may not look like much from the outside, inside, the friendly staff and spacious rooms make it a popular choice. The First Floor restaurant, with views over the nearby zoo's greenery, is a destination in its own right. The exercise room has state-of-the-art equipment and natural light, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows that look onto the city's skyline. The extensive

spa includes an ice grotto and Finnish sauna.

Hotel Palace Review

Faded glory describes this hotel in the center of West Berlin. The structure has the charm of the 1970ties and badly needs an update. I would hardly rate it 5 stars anymore. Location: If you prefer a location in the Kurfürstendamm neighbourhood, the Palace is well located, in a high-rise building complex next to the Gedächtniskirche. Shopping, Zoo, museums, restaurants, U-Bahn and S-Bahn stations are very close. Building: A soulless concrete

structure with faded elegance from the 1970ties. Rooms: The rooms are the main weakness of this hotel. The rooms are small and dated. The furnishing shows wear&tear, and everything is far from luxury. More 3.5 stars than 5 stars. Food&beverage: The First Floor restaurant is still one of Berlin's very best restaurants and the 10-course surprise menu will be a memorable experience. But with such good transportation in Berlin, why staying in this hotel when you want to dine at the First Floor? Conclusion: You often get bargain deals for rooms at the Palace and you may think "Wow - I can afford a luxury hotel!" But the truth is: what you get is far from luxury and frankly said, spend a little more for a better hotel.
