Biking in Berlin

Bike paths are generally marked by red pavement or white markings on the sidewalks. Be careful when walking on bike paths or crossing them. Many stores that rent or sell bikes carry the Berlin biker's atlas. Fahrradstation (Dorotheenstr. 30, Mitte. 030/2045-4500. www.fahrradstation.de) rents bikes for EUR 15 per day (12 hours) or EUR 35 for three days. Bring ID and call for its other locations. Fahrrad Vermietung Berlin (Kurfürstendamm 236, Western Downtown. 030/261-2094) rents black bikes with baskets that it keeps in front of the Marmorhaus movie theater, opposite the Gedächtniskirche. Rates are EUR 10 a day, and you must leave either a EUR 50 deposit or ID as security.
