When to Go

Peak Season: June to September

The lowlands fare best early summer, before the high humidity sets in, while late July and August become the best time for escaping to cooler climates in the mountains.

Off Season: November to March

Unless accustomed to full-on winters, a visit to Georgia at this time can be a challenge. Additionally, snow cover can close mountain passes and make some destinations inaccessible (or inescapable) for days at a time.

Shoulder Season: April to May, October

Although warm, the late spring and early summer tend to bring lots of rain, making outdoor activities less comfortable and enjoyable. Attitudes (and prices), however, are more relaxed before and after the peak season.
