Fodor's Expert Review Radisson Blu

1 Ninoshvili St., Batumi, Ajaria, 6000, Georgia

It's hard not to notice Italian architect Michele de Lucchi's crooked glass and steel building rising 19 floors at the north end of Batumi Boulevard from just about anywhere in the city, and this recent addition to the skyline is also one of its best hotels. Each of the rooms has floor-to-ceiling glass windows with views of the sea, mountains, or old town and is decked out in Scandinavian chic, with throughly modern furniture and bursts of muted reds, yellows, and blues in the fabrics. The 19th-floor bar and restaurant, Clouds, offers some of the best views in the city, and is a popular meeting point for romantic cocktails at sunset. The hotel's efforts in ecological management has earned it a Green Key label, one of only two in the country.

PROS

  • probably no better location in the city
  • responsive staff

CONS

  • smoking in bar and restaurnt areas
