To learn about the heartwarming liqueur made in Angers since 1849, head to the Carré Cointreau on the east side of the city. Guided tours of the distillery start with an introductory film, move past "cointreauversial" advertising posters, through the bottling plant and alembic room with its gleaming copper-pot stills, and end with a tasting. English tours are staged at 3 pm. City bus No. 6 from the Angers train station gets you here in 17 minutes.
