Le Rivage Review

This small, white-walled hotel with restaurant views over the Loiret River is a little off the beaten track (take the N20 south from Orléans to Olivet, then turn right into avenue de Verdun and continue parallel to the River Loiret for a mile or so) but it makes a pleasant base. This place has been a family affair since 1954, and Jean-Pierre Béreaud makes sure your visit is as charming as it is delicious. Each of the compact rooms has a little balcony with a view of the tree-lined Loiret River, with the best view from No. 4. This spot is best known with locals for its excellent restaurant (no lunch Saturday; no dinner Sunday, November–April), which has a wonderful terrace with lovely river views. The stylish menu changes with the season—if you're lucky, chef Christophe Lennec's memorable sole fillet and crayfish stuffing with creamy morille sauce will be on tap.
