A delightfully friendly city-center oasis, this Best Western hotel near the Musée du Compagnonnage is set back from the street behind a gravel court and terraced garden. Inside, the welcome is vivacious, the lobby daguerreotype-charming, and the clientele a pleasant mix of foreign students and happy travelers. The guest rooms are comfortable; the best look onto the garden (No. 441 is the largest), but cost 40% more. A walk of about eight blocks east takes you to the historic center of Tours. Pros: quiet, central location. Cons: favored by tour groups; top-floor rooms lack charm.Boris (reception)
