In business since 1846, the Anjou has a vaguely 18th-century style, and stained-glass windows in the lobby. Rooms vary in size but most have high ceilings, double doors, and modern bathrooms where terry robes await you. There's a fine restaurant, La Salamandre (closed Sunday), where Danie Louboutin's meticulously prepared classic cuisine ranges from lamb and duck with cranberries to calamari with crab sauce. Opt for one of the reasonably priced prix-fixe menus. Pros: central location; stylish public areas. Cons: sardine-size elevator; hard to park.
