Musée du Gemmail

Musée du Gemmail Review

Housed in the imposing 19th-century Hôtel Raimbault, this noted museum contains an unusual collection of three-dimensional colored-glass window panels depicting patterns, figures, and portraits. The gemmail technique of nonleaded stained glass was invented in the 1950s and can also be seen in Lourdes. Incidentally, Jean Cocteau coined the word gemmail by combining gemme (gem) with émail (enamel).
