Fodor's Expert Review Carlton Cannes

58 bd. de la Croisette, Cannes, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, 06414, France Fodor's Choice

To much fanfare, the rebranded Carlton Cannes, the grande dame of La Croisette since 1913, reopened in March 2023 after a multiyear, €350 million renovation, and the work of 750 specialized craftsmen led by restoration specialist Richard Lavelle was evident in the skillful preservation of every detail—from the faience and Carrara marble scales on the lobby floor to the Paolo Venini Art Deco chandeliers. Now a Regent hotel, under the Intercontinental Hotel Group, the Carlton Cannes also offers two large new wings that house 37 luxury residences for longer stays. In addition, the property has the largest infinity pool in Cannes and an enclosed inner courtyard that is a spectacular garden paradise. For a truly private green space, though, book the very spacious penthouse, which has a landscaped rooftop garden. A stay at this hotel also lets you enjoy the first private beach in Cannes: the Carlton Beach Club, which opened in 1928. The Riviera restaurant is complemented by the Camelia Tea Lounge and Bar 58.
