Grand Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat Review
Just this side of paradise, this extravagantly expensive hotel has always been the exclusive playground for Hollywood's elite (not too surprising, as their bills are footed by their movie studios) and, now, after a grand refurbishment, this fabled hotel is the new standard for discreet Cap-Ferrat moneyed luxury. Perched at the end of the peninsula with floor to ceiling windows leaning out over crashing waves, guest rooms have spectacular views far out to sea. They are a glory of comfort: thick, stark-white and softer-than-soft comforters, mellow olive-green tones, hardwood floors, plasma screens, private terraces—some with their own pool—and acres of sculpted gardens. What more could one ask for? En plus is the Michelin starred restaurant (open April to September) headed up by wunderkind Didier Aniés, who creates tasty dishes like Aquitaine caviar lasagna or the Saint Pierre (John Dory) with citrus confit; La Véranda offers all day dining and is open all year.
