Tucked in a cozy, rustic shoe box along the port, this vegetarian-Italian bistro, The Magic Pumpkin, is all the rage, thanks to the imaginative cooking of Roman chef Marco Folicaldi. The eat-till-you-drop five-course menu changes daily according to the season, and offers a taste of the rich flavors that the best local markets have to offer: grilled fresh vegetables smothered in smoked cheese, minestrone, cannelloni, stuffed peppers, delicious pizzas, and the justly famous pumpkin-based recipes when autumn arrives. The chef's gruff friendliness, the noisy camaraderie of crowded diners, and the surreal pumpkin art in every form make for a real dining event.

I had a great time at this restaurant on a culinary arts school trip to France. The service was great, and the food delicious. And, if you sit outside on the "patio", you get a great view of the Port of Nice in the background. And all come at sweet prices.
