La Chapelle Notre Dame de Jérusalem

Updated 12/18/2013

Fodor's Review

The eccentric La Chapelle Notre Dame de Jérusalem was designed by Jean Cocteau as part of an artists' colony that never happened. It's an octagon built around a glass atrium and is embellished with stained glass, frescoes depicting the mythology of the first Crusades, and a tongue-in-cheek painting of the apostles above the front door that boasts the famous faces of Coco Chanel, Jean Marais, and poet Max Jacob.
