Continue northward over a few blocks to Rue de la Citadelle, which leads away from the port up to the looming Citadel, set on a hill to the west of town. St-Tropez's 16th-century Citadelle stands in a lovely hilltop park. Inside its donjon (defense tower), a Musée Naval (Naval Museum) displays ship models, cannons, and pictures of St-Tropez from its days as a naval port. The views from its terrace take in the whole of the gulf and the hills behind and are the sort to tempt any artist to set up an easel in a jiffy.
