Getting Here

Flying here usually means coming into Bergerac airport but there's also the regional supplier, Airlinair, which flies from Paris into nearby Brive La Gaillarde to the north (for as little as €60 one-way two times a day during the week and once on Sunday).

Sarlat train station. A half-hour walk out of town, Sarlat train station, on the northeast side of town, links you up with the rest of the Dordogne. 2 rue Stade, Sarlat-la-Canéda, 24203.

For the four trains to Les Eyzies (1 hr) and the seven to Périgueux (1 hr 40 mins) you'll need to change at Le Buisson. There are trains to Sarlat from Bordeaux seven times a day. To get to Paris you have to change at Souillac, and the trip takes about 5½ hours for about €85 one-way.

Effia Transports Belmon. Buses are operated by Effia Transports Belmon on the Souillac route. 05-56-33-03-80.

Périgord Voyages/Cheze. Buses are operated by Périgord Voyages/Cheze on the Périgueux route. However, Sarlat proper does have the claim to fame (for a town of less than 10,000 people) of having three bus lines (Sarlat Bus). Don't get off at the train station, but at the stops at Place Pasteur or Rue de la République. 05-53-59-01-48.
