One of Sarlat's time-burnished hotels, this is in the southern section of the town's Cité Médiévale, side by side with the 17th-century Chapelle des Recollects and its convent. Today, the hotel—blessed with a golden-stone facade—is centered around the convent's ancient cloister, which makes an exquisite setting for breakfast. Guest rooms are extremely simple, befitting the rates, which also include such pluses as air-conditioning, minibars, and the nice location. Pros: Good value for money; secure parking provided nearby. Cons: If you're not into French moderne decor then this is not the place for you.
