La Plume d'Oie

La Roque-Gageac, 24250, France

Famed for its eatery, this small inn overlooking the river and limestone cliffs welcomes weary guests with rooms that flaunt some fabulous views. Done up in light fabrics and wicker furniture, the rooms vary in size and price (note that views over the Dordogne also face the busy road, so light sleepers should ask for accommodations in the back). La Plume d'Oie's major raison d'être is the cheery stone-wall, wood-beam restaurant at which you are expected to have at least one meal (closed Monday and Tuesday; reservations essential). Chef–owner Marc-Pierre Walker concentrates on classic regional cuisine, such as roasted duckling in a pepper shallot sauce; three- and five-course prix-fixe menus are available for €33 and €48 respectively.
