La Taverne Basque Review

This well-known midtown standard is one of the old-faithful dining emporiums, specializing in Basque cuisine with a pronounced maritime emphasis. Try the ttoro (a rich fish, crustacean, potato, and vegetable soup). Perhaps the best stamp of approval is that locals eat here often.

    La Taverne Basque Review

We followed Fodor's advice, but were disappointed with the food. The fish dishes were only okay. The foil-wrapped baked potato was probably leftover for at least a day or so. Since it's more expensive than many places in this touristed area, I'd try other options on this street. Even better: try Florentina, a 5-10 minute walk away, less hectic, nice ambiance, and exellent Italian food.
