La Taverne Basque Review

This well-known midtown standard is one of the old-faithful dining emporiums, specializing in Basque cuisine with a pronounced maritime emphasis. Try the ttoro (a rich fish, crustacean, potato, and vegetable soup). Perhaps the best stamp of approval is that locals eat here often.

Even better: try Florentina, a 5-10 minute walk away, less hectic, nice ambiance, and exellent Italian food.
