Fodor's Expert Review Le Pouilly
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
The lofty dining room of this ancient demeure has everything a country manor should: creamy stone walls, warm oak paneling, beamed ceilings, a giant central fireplace, and a stately balcony. In winter, hearty yet refined dishes—which have earned Le Pouilly a Michelin star—are served before a roaring fire, and in summer the garden terrace makes a lovely spot for lunch or a candlelight dinner. Chef Fabrice Gouret works his magic in dishes like tender Challans duck with a puree of Jerusalem artichoke or grilled swordfish with bergamot-scented quinoa and avocado vinaigrette. For dessert, the locally grown glacéed peach served with a tender cookie of pistachio and raisins pairs perfectly with a sweet Montlouis from the exceptional wine list.
